So J gets called out on a job for work (when he first started), he was putting his work uniform on and said "Man! I feel like a Ghostbuster!" *cue my laughs* When he got home and changed out of his uniform, he still felt in the Ghostbuster spirit and put on his Ghostbuster shirt.
So that evening inspired a Ghostbuster theme for J's birthday at Mom's. So his cake had to match:
Red Velvet cake, buttercream for the filling. Green piping gel for the slime.
As J's family hadn't had an opportunity to celebrate his birthday due to his sister getting married the following day, we celebrated it a couple weeks later which gave me an opportunity to try out more new recipes.
Nightmare Before Christmas is a film he watches at every Halloween and likes to quote randomly throughout the year, so I decorated accordingly:
Mr. Jack Skellington
But I couldn't leave the whole cake to Jack. I had to include Jack's best friend, Zero:
I had many issues with the cake while trying to decorate, but it still tasted delicious.
Chocolate Almond cake with French buttercream filling.
And then it brings me to yesterday which was the sad and exciting event of the release of the last Harry Potter film. In my sleep deprived and HP-obsessive state, I felt like I had to do a Harry Potter tribute cake (which by the end I totally crashed after 3 1/2 hours of sleep). But by the time I was done, I was too tired to put anything else on it, so it's rather blank:
Not great quality picture, but those are Gryffindor colors for the boarder.
And a close up of Harry:
Yes, I still need work on my frozen buttercream transfers, but this turned out a little better than the last. White Almond cake with raspberry filling.
And now I'm looking forward to my next project coming up 07/23. J's parent's 30th anniversary. J and the siblings and aunt/uncle/cousins decided to have a small party for them. Looking very much forward to doing this as I have some good ideas going.
